What to Wear for Your Couples Photoshoot

One of the first questions I get when planning a couples session is, “What should we wear?”

My biggest piece of advice is simple: wear something that feels like you.

Your photos should look like the two of you, not like you dressed up as completely different people just for the camera. You want to feel comfortable, confident, and able to move around without constantly adjusting your clothes.

Coordinate Without Matching

You do not have to wear the exact same colors. Instead, choose colors and textures that look good together.

Neutral and earthy tones tend to photograph beautifully, but that does not mean you have to avoid color. If one person is wearing something with a pattern, consider keeping the other person’s outfit a little simpler so everything feels balanced.

Most importantly, try to avoid outfits that compete for attention.

Think About Movement

My couples sessions are not built around standing perfectly still and smiling at the camera for an hour. We might walk, laugh, sit together, move around, or try different prompts throughout your session. Choose clothes and shoes that allow you to actually enjoy yourself.

If you are uncomfortable, it will eventually show.

Bring Options

If your session allows for an outfit change, I love having one slightly dressier option and one more casual option.

A casual outfit can feel relaxed and playful, while a dressier outfit can create something completely different without needing another photoshoot.

You Do Not Have to Figure It Out Alone

When you book a couples session with Amaya Decy Photography, I am happy to help you plan your outfits before your session.

You can send me pictures of what you are considering, and we can figure out what will photograph best while still feeling like you.

Your session should feel personal from beginning to end.

If you are looking for relaxed couples photography in Arkansas with plenty of guidance along the way, I would love to help you plan your session.
